“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” That expression seems appropriate because for the first time, the Super Bowl was held in Las Vegas. Las Vegas used to be an entertainment city with musicians like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. at the old casinos like The Sands and Flamingo. Magicians and Illusionists like Penn and Teller and David Cooperfield dazzle their magic. They continue to have their residencies, but now, it has become a sports mecca. The Las Vegas Golden Knights became the first expansion team in Las Vegas in 2018 for the NHL, followed by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, and the Oakland Athletics in the late 2020s.

Now Super Bowl 58 was one of the most thrilling Super Bowls in a long time. It was another historic super bowl with many achievements and accomplishments from the Kansas City Chiefs. The first quarter was quiet with no score, the 10th time the first quarter was scoreless in a Super Bowl. The second quarter was all the San Francisco 49ers. Jake Moody kicked a 55 yard field goal, which was the longest field goal in Super Bowl history since Steve Christie for the Buffalo Bills in 1994. Then, the first touchdown of the game; Jauan Jennings threw a cross-field pass to Christian McCaffrey for a 21 yard run, which was a trick play. The last time we saw that was The Philly Special in 2018 when the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl. The first half was over, 10-3, in the 49ers favor.

The Super Bowl had some star-studded performers in attendance. In the crowd, Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, Paul McCartney, Paul Rudd, Blake Lively, and of course Taylor Swift, cheering on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The halftime performance was star-studded as well. Usher, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and H.E.R. all had a chance to perform for a total of about 13 minutes.

Now to the Second Half. There was another historic field goal from the Kansas City Chiefs Harrison Butker. Butker kicked a fifty-seven yard field goal, one of the longest field goals in Super Bowl history. The Kansas City Chiefs earned the second touchdown of the game. Patrick Mahomes threw a touchdown pass to Marcus Valdes-Scantling. Still, it was a kicking game, with 7 field goals scored in the Super Bowl, the most in any Super Bowl. There were also a combined 5 lead changes and ties in the game as well.

60 minutes could not decide this Super Bowl, it took overtime to decide this game. It was the second time a Super Bowl went to overtime. Super Bowl 51 was the first one where the New England Patriots overcame a 25-point comeback, the largest comeback of any Super Bowl. The 49ers received the ball first and got a 27 yard field goal. They used almost 7 minutes off the 15 minute clock. It was the Kansas City Chiefs turn. It all came down to one play within the red zone. Mahomes threw the game winning touchdown to Mecole Hardman. Hardman admitted he blackouted when he caught the game winning touchdown. It took 74 minutes and 57 seconds to know who won this Super Bowl.  The Kansas City Chiefs won their 3rd Super Bowl in the last 5 years. They are considered a “dynasty team” to some experts. The Kansas City Chiefs were the first team since the New England Patriots to repeat as Super Bowl Champions in 20 years. They also became the 9th Team in the Super Bowl era to repeat as champions, and the 4th team to win 3 Super Bowls in the last 5 years. Patrick Mahomes won his 3rd Super Bowl and his 3rd MVP. Andy Reid, who was the former coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, won his 3rd Super Bowl as well. He became the 6th head coach to win at least 3 Lombardi trophies. The San Francisco 49ers on the other hand, are the losers again. This is the 3rd time they have lost a Super Bowl. They were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl 47 and the Chiefs in Super Bowl 54 and 58. And now the Kansas City Chiefs are ready to celebrate again. Patrick Mahomes went to Disneyland on Monday and their Super Bowl parade was Valentine’s Day, February 14. The Kansas City Chiefs are the World Champions again
