I recently had the chance to interview the Community College of Philadelphia’s Student Union President, Arie. Arie wants to help fight for students when it comes to student life on campus as well as traveling to and from campus. “We want to provide community stability and uplift students. We also want to help with clubs, tuition, and scholarships. If the school does something wrong, we want to hold them accountable. And we still haven’t forgotten about fighting for free SEPTA passes,”  Arie reiterated. The Student Union also drives to host events and is very welcoming to numerous students who want to join. “There are talks of us wanting to create a clothing drive and art club. And as we host these drives, we want to try to recruit more students to join the Student Union, if they want to. More ways we will recruit is to put up fliers around the school,” Arie voiced. There are also meetings people in the Student Union would attend to help put their ideas together. These meetings are usually in crowded areas so other students can see the Student Union. “Our meetings are usually located where the blue couches are behind the Saxbys or the courtyard area where the tables are. We are not sure where the location of our next meeting will be, but our meetings are hosted on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3 p.m,” Arie explained. Updates from the Student Union can be found on their Instagram at @ccpstudentunion. Will you be participating in the student union?
